Audio material

Our audio material, mostly on cassette or CD, consists mostly of documentary material, such as interviews or live recordings of events, recordings of the first women’s pirate radio in Austria as well as some music.

The oldest document is a live radio report about the mother’s day protest on May 7, 1971 for the radio program “Mittagsjournal” – a first powerful sign of life of the Second Wave Austrian women’s movement. Most of the material from the movement is from the 1980s and reflects the networking attempts of the many at the time newly formed autonomous women’s projects as well as debates about autonomy and institution(alization).

Audio material can be searched for on-site in the STICHWORT database and can be listened to in the media corner of the reading room.
