STICHWORT's Primary Source Documentation of Groups
in the Austrian Women’s and Lesbian Movement

With a visit to STICHWORT one can learn a lot about the Second Wave women’s movement in Austria in a vivid and exciting way: at the present, about 900 autonomous Austrian women’s groups are documented from the 1970s onwards. A database which can be accessed on-site provides information about the groups and the holdings. The very diverse histories become tangible bit by bit through the multitude of written and visual material: we collect flyers, releases, statements, event announcements and self-portrayals, news articles, meeting minutes, concepts and reports from Austrian women’s groups as well as posters, brochures, periodicals, information sheets, audio and visual material, banners and publications.

The primary source documentation of groups in the Austrian women’s and lesbian movement can be viewed on-site or can be used in exhibits or publications per request (for more info, see Loans). We recommend advance contact if you wish to access this part of the archives.
