Feminist Periodicals

About 900 feminist and lesbian periodicals – professional journals as well as typical media of the women’s movement – from Austria, other German-speaking countries and selected international publications deliver insight into the feminist topics and debates of the last four decades respectively.

The magazine rack in the reading room invites visitors to browse a selection of the current magazine subscriptions. Scientific journals can be found in the open stacks in the reading room, and individual articles can be searched for using the  STICHWORT library database. The individual articles from Austrian feminist magazines from 1972 to 1990 are also recorded in the database and paint a vivid portrait of the discussions and topics of the Austrian women’s movement in its first two decades.

The whole collection of international women's/lesbian magazines and journals is available via  ZDB. Here is how it works:

– then click on "expert search" to the right
– enter sig=AT-STICHWORT into the search field
– or simply use 'Title keywords' in the first search mask for a certain magazine. You will find 'Wien STICHWORT' at the end of the list.
