Posters

We collect posters from the Austrian women’s and lesbian movement and from other women’s political groups. Our collection includes numerous international examples as well and contains at the present over 2,000 items.

The spectrum ranges from hand-painted posters from the 1970s and 1980s, among them the first posters from lesbians in the Austrian women’s movement, sandwich boards from protests, innumerable advertisements for events and self-portrayals to poster series from the Women’s Minister Johanna Dohnal.

Posters can be borrowed on loan for exhibits or used in publications. We gladly provide information about the conditions for loans. Posters can be searched for on-site in the STICHWORT database according to various criteria regarding form and content (for example: topics, occassions, women’s groups, region, attributes of the design). A photo catalogue of the posters makes it easier to pre-select objects.
